June 2007 Meeting Details

CAPT Meeting
Charlotte, N.C.
June 9, 2007

CAPT's June meeting will be held in Charlotte at the Greystone Restaurant at 3039 South Blvd. across from 3030 South and the CATS Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance Facility. The phone number is 704 523-2822. Lunch will be at 1 p.m., followed by the meeting, which should end around 4 p.m.

Other activities are also planned for the day. Local CAPT members will meet those arriving on The Piedmont at the Amtrak station on North Tryon Street. Arrival time is 10:14 a.m. We'll take a tour of the South Corridor Light Rail line as time permits before noon.

At noon, there will be a tour of the Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance Facility given by the Charlotte Area Transit System. Access to the facility is via Pelton Street, which runs north off of Clanton Road, one block west of the South Corridor Light Rail line. Members of Charlotte Trolley, Citizens for Efficient Mass Transit, and the Piedmont Carolinas Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society are also invited to join us. Mention to the security officer upon arrival that you're there for the tour. You should be prompt, as the tour will begin at noon and will not be delayed for late arrivals. Those attending will also have an opportunity to take a ride on one of the light rail vehicles.

After the CAPT meeting breaks up around 4 p.m. later in the afternoon, we'll do more touring of the construction on the South Corridor Light Rail line, as time permits. For those departing on The Piedmont, we'll see that everyone gets back to the Amtrak station by 5:15 p.m. Departure is at 5:30 p.m.
