CAPT Annual General Membership Meeting

CAPT will meet at the City Range Steakhouse and Grill in Spartanburg at 774 Spartan Blvd. on Saturday, October 11th. To get there take exit 21B from I-26. At the first light turn left onto Blackstock Blvd. (SR-295N). Drive about half a mile past West Gate Mall on your left and turn left onto Spartan Blvd. at the "West Gate Crossing" sign. The restaurant is on the right at the top of the hill. The phone number is 864-327-3333. Lunch will be at noon, followed by the annual meeting which should last until around 4 p.m. Jeanne Brooks, an editorial writer for the Greenville News who has written several pro-Amtrak articles over the past few years, has been invited to attend. Also, requests have been made to the offices of South Carolina U.S. Representative Ingles and U.S. Senator DeMint to send a representative.

The meeting's main focus will be the election of officers and directors for the coming year. The full agenda is listed below:

Directors and Officers for the Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will be elected at the October 11, 2008, general membership meeting in Spartanburg. Directors serve two-year terms, and officers are elected yearly. The Board of Directors consists of 12 to 18 members based on the percentage of CAPT members in North Carolina and South Carolina. This serves as official notice of the annual meeting and elections. Anyone interested in running for the board should contact any member of the present board and provide biographical information for consideration, or be prepared to provide this information in person at the meeting. The current CAPT Board serves as the official Nominating Committee.
