October 2010 Meeting Details
CAPT Annual General Membership Meeting
Myrtle Beach, S.C.
October 9, 2010
The Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will meet in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on October 9, 2010.
A meeting room at the Chapin Memorial Library in downtown will be the location for the meeting. The
address is
400 14th Avenue North
at the corner of Kings Highway (US 17). We will have the room
from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. or until the meeting is concluded.
Those who wish to have lunch should begin gathering at or near the library parking lot at 12 noon.
If the library lot is too full, there is parking around the library on the street but it is metered.
From the library parking lot, we will walk beginning at 12:30 p.m. to the
Pier 14 Restaurant (843-448-4314)
located two blocks away. The restaurant sits on a pier directly over the ocean. It has a great menu
(something for everyone) and is highly recommended. Groups of 18 or more have a gratuity included in
their bill so you don’t need to tip. No parking is available at the restaurant but for those who might
arrive late and can't find a spot near the library, there are metered parking spaces in a lot across the
street from the Blue/Green Tower high-rise condo on Ocean Boulevard. From there you can walk across the
street and go between it and the Yachtsman resort to reach the restaurant directly behind the Blue/Green Tower.
After lunch we'll walk the two blocks back to the library (on the same side
street). The library closes at 2:00 p.m. so those arriving just in time for the
meeting should find plenty of spaces to park in the library's own off-street
lot.
The highlight of the meeting will be the annual election of Officers and Directors, and a keynote speaker to be announced.

"Directors and Officers for the Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will be elected at the October 9, 2010
general membership meeting in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Directors serve two years terms, and officers are elected yearly.
The Board of Directors consists of 12 to 18 members based on the percentage of CAPT members in North Carolina and
South Carolina. This serves as official notice of the annual meeting and elections. Anyone interested in running
for the board should contact any member of the present board and provide biographical information for consideration,
or be prepared to provide this information in person at the meeting. Current directors who are ending a two year
term should notify Secretary Phil Astwood at astwoodp@bellsouth.net if they intend to run again, or be at the meeting
in person. Those who do not notify the Secretary, or appear at the meeting will not be considered. The current CAPT
Board serves as the official Nominating Committee."
