CAPT Board Meeting

The Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will meet in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, July 9, 2016.
Lunch and the board meeting will be in the guest room of the Queen City Q Restaurant located at 225 East
6th Street next to the Lynx Light Rail line. It's next to Brixx Pizza in the 7th Street Station building.
Lunch will start around 11:30 am . The meeting will follow after lunch around 1:00 pm, and will adjourn
around 3:00 pm.
At that time a number of vehicles will take those interested on a tour of the route of the LYNX Blue Line
light rail extension to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The Light Rail project construction is well
underway with service projected to begin in latter part of 2017 between Uptown and the University. The tour
will be completed in time to transport passengers coming to the meeting via Amtrak back to the train station for
the 5:15 pm departure of the Piedmont.
For those arriving by Amtrak, local CAPT members will meet the 10:04 am arrival of the Piedmont for
transport to the restaurant. Also, Charlotte Area Transit bus route 11 picks up passengers at the
Amtrak station, and will drop you off at 7th Street which is a short walk to the restaurant. Those
arriving by auto can use the 7th Street Station parking deck. Parking can be validated at the
restaurant.
****Time permitting a group will ride the new Center City Gold Line streetcar for a round trip between
the Charlotte Transportation Center on Trade Street and Novant Presbyterian Hospital before going to lunch.
Those interested should get together outside of the Queen City Q restaurant by 10:30 am.
