CAPT Annual Meeting

The November CAPT meeting will be in Durham Saturday, November 17 at Braggtown Baptist Church, 3218 N. Roxboro Street, 2:00 to 5:00 pm. The church is 1.2 miles north of I-85 exit 177 or 3 miles north of the Durham Freeway, NC 147, exit 12B. Roxboro Street is US 501 Business North. The church is on the right side of the road next to the Wright School and across the street from Biscuitville.
Park in the rear and enter through the back door at the sheltered entrance. (Latecomers simply ring the buzzer if the door is locked.)
Those driving should plan to meet at the Amtrak station to provide transportation for those arriving by train. Southbound The Piedmont arrives at 10:32 am. Northbound the Carolinian arrives at 9:27 am, but most are expected to take the Piedmont arriving in Durham at 1:03 pm. Exit the parking lot to the right onto Main Street and continue east on Main to the 5th stoplight and make a left turn onto Roxboro Street. The church is three miles north and you will pass under I-85.
Depending on train arrival times suggested lunch locations are McCabes , one half block from the Amtrak station and the C&H Cafeteria located at North Gate Shopping Center, Club Boulevard and Guess Road.
CAPT Official Notice of Election of Officers and Directors
Directors and Officers for the Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains will be elected at the November 17, 2018 Annual General Membership meeting in Durham, N.C. Directors serve terms of two years, and officers are elected yearly. The Board of Directors consists of 12 to 18 members based on the percentage of CAPT members in North Carolina and South Carolina. This serves as official notice of the annual meeting and elections. Any member interested in running for the board should contact any member of the present board and provide biographical information for consideration, or be prepared to provide this information in person at the meeting. Current directors who are ending a term of two years should notify Secretary Phil Astwood at astwoodp@bellsouth.net if the intention is to run again. Those who do not notify the Secretary, or appear at the meeting will not be considered. The current CAPT Board serves as the official Nominating Committee.
